AI.map 3.0 strengthens the visibility of AI players in North Rhine-Westphalia

Update makes adding new entries and editing existing ones quicker and easier

The interactive AI.map of KI.NRW, the central point of contact for artificial intelligence in North Rhine-Westphalia, is launching a new entry system. Adding new entries and editing existing ones is now quicker and easier. The update is intended to improve user-friendliness as well as the quality and topicality of the entries. In addition, the search options have been significantly expanded so that social education offers are now also shown on the map. 

The topic of artificial intelligence is omnipresent and the range of AI products, training opportunities and research projects in North Rhine-Westphalia is growing continuously. The interactive AI.map from KI.NRW helps you to keep track. It shows the entire North Rhine-Westphalian AI ecosystem with currently more than 1100 entries – and new ones are added almost daily. This also requires the help of AI stakeholders. A new update has now simplified the entry process for them.

AI players become visible more quickly and easily
“The new AI.map 3.0 enables users to quickly add entries themselves and easily update existing ones. Thanks to the improved user interface and the reorganization of the backend, we can further increase the quality of the AI.map,” says Lisa Fink, AI Technology Manager at KI.NRW and product owner of the map. “With the update, which saves manual transfer work, we are responding to the rapid growth of our AI ecosystem. We can now give young AI start-ups, newly designed training courses or new study programs on the subject of AI much faster visibility.”

New functionalities at a glance
To make it as easy as possible for users to contribute new entries or update existing ones, the contribution system has been integrated directly into the map: creating a new map entry using the newly developed online tool is particularly intuitive and quick. The previous process of filling in and sending a PDF form is no longer necessary. It is now also possible for users to edit previously published entries themselves. This works via an individual link that each creator of an entries receives. Before a new or revised entries is published, it is checked by the KI.NRW map team.

With the update of the AI.map to version 3.0, the research offer is also growing significantly: In addition to the familiar areas of business, science and qualification, the map now also lists social education offers. These include, for example, podcasts, exhibitions, tutorials and teaching materials on the topic of AI. The aim is to introduce interested citizens to the topic of artificial intelligence.

To ensure that the AI.map is an accurate reflection of the AI ecosystem in North Rhine-Westphalia, AI stakeholders from NRW are invited to contribute content for new entries as well as updates to existing entries.
