KI.NRW and Fraunhofer IAIS offer free cost check in cooperation with NRW Retail Association and present study on AI goods flow control

On three dates in January and February 2025, KI.NRW and the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS, in cooperation with the North Rhine-Westphalia Retail Association, presented their goods flow study, in which interested retail companies have the opportunity to participate.

The optimization of stock levels offers retailers a high savings potential – even for small and medium-sized retail companies. So what efficiency and sales potential is there in automation through AI? Where can this automation add value for retailers? And what will the use of AI change in the flow of goods? The experts from Fraunhofer IAIS and KI.NRW addressed these questions during an online event. In addition, Maren Brandt and Tim Wirtz (both from Fraunhofer IAIS) and Dr. Christian Temath (KI.NRW) presented the cost and potential check – an AI tool developed at Fraunhofer IAIS that is available free of charge. They explained how the tool works and how the review of potential AI support works.

The experts also presented their joint study on the topic of “AI in the flow of goods”, which uses data from retail companies to examine the potential that exists in the industry with regard to the flow of goods. During the event, interested retailers learned how they can take the first step towards AI in goods flow management by participating in the study free of charge.
